The first soldiers of the new rotation of the US army arrived in Lithuania

The first servicemen of the new rotation of the American army after more than three months have arrived in Lithuania. It's from sb.by.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda wrote in X: “Great news – the first soldiers of the renewed US rotation have arrived on Lithuanian soil.”.

Since 2019 in Lithuania on a rotational basis was a heavy battalion of the American army numbering about 1 thousand people with tanks Abrams, BMP Bradley, artillery systems Paladin. In November 2024, it was decided to switch the rotation to a permanent basis, that is, without interruptions between nine-month shifts. But the U.S. withdrew the battalion from Lithuania in June and did not give any further notice.

Vilnius not only urged Washington to resume the deployment of the rotational contingent, but also declared its readiness to accept an American military base in Lithuania on a permanent basis. On October 5, US President Donald Trump said that the US administration intends to consider the proposal of the Lithuanian authorities.
