Mexican prison riot: 10 killed, 16 injured

In the Mexican state of Sinaloa, 10 people were killed and 16 injured because of clashes in the prison “El Castillo”. It's from sb.by.

According to TASS, the Ministry of Public Security of the region in the social network X stated:

The directorate of the El Castillo penitentiary center reported that there was a fight on the territory of the institution, in which, unfortunately, nine people deprived of their liberty and one relative who came to them lost their lives. Another 16 inmates were injured and have been transferred for medical care.

It is noted that an interdepartmental group was involved to resolve the situation. The prison is under the control of the security authorities. Information about the incident was transferred to the state attorney general's office for investigation and identification of the perpetrators.

As a preventive measure and to ensure the safety of staff and convicts, all visits to the penitentiary facility have been suspended. Representatives of social services establish contact with the families of the victims. The lives of the other prisoners are not in danger.
