An unidentified elderly man poured wine on Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar as a sign of personal dislike for him and disagreement with his policies. Madyar himself told about this incident, taking it with laughter and only regretting that a good drink was lost in vain.
As noted by TASS, Madyar posted a video of the incident on Facebook after Saturday’s trip to the city of Pec, in the south-west of the country, to meet with his supporters. On his way back to Budapest, he stopped in Sexard to attend a grape harvesting festival and, at the invitation of locals, went to a party in one of the restaurants. The video shows how during a conversation with the owners of Madyar, an elderly man deliberately threw white wine in his direction from his glass. The wine got on the face and shirt of the Hungarian Prime Minister, but he tried not to pay much attention to it, and his offender was taken away by a guard.
- This "gentleman" was probably very annoyed that everyone was doing well, and we talked and took pictures with hundreds of people. He didn't have the courage to come closer and maybe look me in the eye. And the delicious wine from Sexard was wasted, Madyar wrote on Facebook.
He also ironically called the man “a defeated soldier of Orban”, expressing confidence that he belongs to the supporters of the former prime minister and the opposition party Fidesz. Any other information about this resident of Sexard, who was so unfriendly to the current Prime Minister, has not yet been received.
This is not the first such incident since Madyar became prime minister. In July, a passerby spat in his back on the platform of the West Station in Budapest, where a press conference on the development of railways was held. Then the government press service reported that Madyar decided not to bring any charges against the bully and “wished him health.” When he took office after winning the April 12 election, he stressed that he would not use heavy security because it would be uncomfortable and he did not consider Hungary a dangerous place. Madyar spoke about the beginning of the drafting of the new Constitution of Hungary
