Iran must significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capacity to end the war with the United States. This statement was made by American Vice President JD Vance, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, in an interview with Reuters, he said:
- If you don't want nuclear weapons, why would you want 60 percent enriched fuel? And if you want to demonstrate a commitment to abandoning nuclear weapons, you don't produce highly enriched fuel. This is a very important fundamental issue [in ending the conflict].
Vance added:
- I think if they want to demonstrate a commitment to not developing nuclear weapons, they have to take meaningful steps with respect to their uranium enrichment capabilities.
According to him, the United States remains open to concluding an agreement, but will demand specific concessions from Iran in the nuclear field
- We are not going to trade words for actions.
The situation is complicated by the fact that Washington is not sure who makes decisions in Tehran. Vance noted that the United States is negotiating with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkin and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi. But, he argued, it is not known how significant their influence is in the Iranian power structure.
- One of the things we've noticed is that it's not entirely clear how decisions are made in their country, Vance said. Trump says U.S. doesn't need Iran's oil
