Heating bills in the coming winter may cause difficulties for a large part of the population of the Baltic States, forcing them to reduce spending on daily needs. This is evidenced by the results of a survey commissioned by Citadele Bank, reports sb.by.

According to the study, only 26 percent of respondents in Estonia, 28 percent in Latvia and 35 percent in Lithuania can easily pay for heating. At the same time, 32 percent of respondents in Estonia fear that they will not be able to cover heating costs or will be forced to save significantly due to high bills. In Latvia and Lithuania, 27 per cent and 26 per cent of respondents, respectively, expressed such concerns.
In Estonia, for example, 27 percent of residents will be forced to save even on food, medicines and other necessary expenses, and 5 percent fear that they will not be able to pay for heating.
The survey, commissioned by Citadele Bank, was conducted by Norstat. 1,000 people were interviewed in each of the three Baltic states. The Estonian government has sharply reduced support for the renovation of apartment buildings
