The Potanin Central Library in Nikolsk became the winner of the All-Russian competition for identifying the best library practices of the Family national project. The amount of federal support amounted to 3.7 million rubles. The funds are aimed at creating an innovative platform “Step on the Millionth”.
The library since 1949 is located in the estate of the Great Ustyug merchant N.A. Shumilov - an architectural monument built in 1913. A new space will appear in the basement. The work is carried out within the framework of the project “Shumilovsky House: The Key to Discoveries”. The design and decoration completely recreate the atmosphere of the county town of Nikolsk in the early XX century. According to the idea, visitors will get to the historic Millionnaya Street, where quest participants will go in search of the cherished key or treasure.
In decorative areas immediately add various ciphers, tasks, puzzles. There will be a merchant shop, a city booth, a poster box with a showcase, an ancient well, the room of the first librarian.
The room is equipped with a modern audio system and video surveillance cameras with day and night shooting. Games can be broadcast and recorded. All scenarios of quests and programs are developed on the basis of real historical material and works of writers of the Vologda region.
The premises of the library have been renovated, equipment for people with disabilities and specialized furniture have been installed. Integrated space "Strolling the Million" is preparing for opening.
