Kalujans are advised to lean on porridge

Today, Orthodox Kaludians remember the Apostle Jacob Alfeyev, one of the 12 disciples of Christ. In the national calendar on October 22, there are several names - Yakov Studeniy, Yakoy Woodmill or Day of the First Porridge.

It was decided to start cooking wood for the winter, because by this time the wood was becoming especially high quality. And also to cook the first autumn porridge, as a symbol that you will not have to starve in the cold. Even the hostess baked cakes with mushrooms and oatmeal, especially since these days the mushroom season ended.

You can’t come to visit empty-handed and refuse food. It was forbidden to be lazy, especially if the work was important and urgent.

Folk signs said that the ice on the roads means precipitation and warming, as well as the cherry that did not dump the leaves.

Earlier, “MK in Kaluga” wrote that Kaluga scientists tested crops in the fields.
