NAO Governor Irina Gekht told about the book by Olga Latysheva “Tundra joys of Maima” and advised her to read with children

NAO Governor Irina Gekht spoke about Olga Latysheva’s book “Tundra Joys of Maima” and advised her to read with her children.
According to the head of the region, this is a story about the Kanin tundra through the eyes of a little girl. Her family, domestic cares, traditions of the Nenets people - stories are made of this.
First, stories about Maima appeared in the children's magazine Punishka. Gradually, they became a whole book about childhood in the tundra and attachment to native places. Illustrations by Valeria Fofanova complement these stories: in the drawings you can see the way of the reindeer family, details of life, familiar northern expanses.
Irina Gekht thanked the specialists of the Ethnocultural Center, who recommended this publication to her.
The book can be found in the NAO ECC library. Two copies were also transferred to each school of the district and to all libraries of the Nenets centralized library system, including rural ones.
The governor suggested trying to read about Maima out loud. Adults may have their own childhood memories to share, and children may have questions about life in the tundra.
