“Beyond Pskov could not pass”: Julia Peresild and “Mandragora” gave fellow countrymen a free concert in memory
For actress Julia Peresild Pskov – not just another touring point, and home

For actress Julia Peresild, Pskov is not just another touring point, but a home. That is why on October 17 she, along with the group “Mandragora”, performed at the Pskov Academic Drama Theater named after Pushkin, presenting the piercing program “Bird-Victory”.
The concert is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow. This is not just a collection of covers, but a reinterpretation of military classics through the prism of modern music and poetry.
We noticed that in almost every song about the war there is an image of a bird: "The birds have arrived - the war is over", "No birds are heard - there is a war". Hence the name, Peresild explained.
The main goal of artists is to reach out to young people. I really want young people to hear these songs the way our mothers and grandfathers heard them, so that this music sounds at the home table. The musicians admitted that they go on stage in cities of military glory not with a sense of heavy responsibility, but with trepidation, trying not to "splash" this special cultural code.

Another reason for pride is the availability of the event. Thanks to a grant from the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, the concert in Peresild’s native theater was held with free entrance. “We could not pass past Pskov. I am happy that every Pskovic can come and listen, the star said.
The program "Bird-Victory" continues the tour of seven cities of military glory of Russia, accompanied by a traveling exhibition and a competition of poets.
