Unusual premiere of “The Little Mermaid” with the participation of children will be held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus on November 2

On the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, the premiere of “The Little Mermaid” with the participation of children will take place on November 2. Along with adult professionals, pupils of the Belarusian State Choreographic Gymnasium-College and students of the Vezhnovets Ballet School will take part in the production, writes sb.by.

This is not quite a classic version of the famous fairy tale by G. H. Andersen: in a new reading, the Little Mermaid will still find happiness. The creators of the play turned the sad story of self-sacrifice into a bright narrative, where good is invincible, and the Prince himself descends to the bottom of the ocean to save his beloved.

About 50 people will be involved on the stage: from kids who are engaged in ballet for only a year, to older people who have more seriously mastered this art form. Original musical fragments were written for the performance, elaborated in detail together with the choreographer of “The Little Mermaid”, the soloist of the ballet of the Belarusian Bolshoi Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Marina Vezhnovets. Production designer Ilya Podkopaev developed unique scenery and costume concept.
