Novgorod Museum presented the painting “Great Novgrad” written in 2026

In the funds of the Museum of Artistic Culture of the Novgorod Land, a new painting appeared – the painting “Great Novgrad”, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Novgorod region reported.

The painting was written this year by a group of authors within the framework of the Sadko festival, and the artist Alla Rygina gave it to the museum. The canvas unites several subjects connected by a single thread of the history of our ancient land.

The name of the painting “Great Novgrad” is written in pre-revolutionary orthography – and this is not accidental. The use of historical writing emphasizes the connection of the modern canvas with the ancient history of Novgorod and gives the picture an additional symbolic meaning.

This year, the XXIII International Festival of Folk Art and Crafts "Sadko" was held in Veliky Novgorod from 19 to 21 June. 66 creative teams and more than 120 masters from different regions of Russia and the Republic of Belarus took part in the events.
