Dangerous touring: Radiohead tour led to 'catastrophic' consequences
Radiohead rock band leader Thom Yorke reveals their tour reunion has led to 'huge' self-confidence crisis

Before Radiohead reunited for a tour in 2025, the band's fans spent about a year talking about possible collaborations. Thom Yorke in every possible way disavowed this perspective, referring to the fact that during the covid he sat so well in isolation that he wanted to get out of it altogether. It turned out that the rejection of unnecessary communication went to the musician only for the benefit. Being an introvert by nature, he enjoyed his seclusion and solo creativity.
But the audience longed for a reunion, fans actively discussed this topic and asked the musicians to return to their favorite format Radiohead. However, at that time, the band members spread out on other projects and realized their creative potential on the side, getting great pleasure from this.
In the end, York was persuaded, and in September last year the band announced its long-awaited return to concert activities. Radiohead have assembled for the first time in more than seven years. In November and December 2025, they played twenty concerts at major arenas in Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin. Moreover, all the concerts were completely different in set lists, they did not repeat the program once during the entire tour. The musicians demonstrated a "street" approach to selecting songs for the show, playing songs "in any order" at their own discretion.
The band chose the location of the stage in the center of the venue to be on an island surrounded by the public on all sides. The scene was covered by a circular screen. It seemed that the break in the joint performances went only to the benefit of Radiohead: they sounded free and relaxed, impressing the audience with the skill of concert arrangements.
But it turned out that on the part of the musicians it was completely different. Almost a year later, Thom Yorke told the singer Harry Styles what difficulties they had to face. Talking about the first concert in Madrid, when the musicians walked to the stage through the crowd, Yorke noted: We all, the whole band, were saying to ourselves, 'Well, hold on. Just hang on.
"Because I wanted to cry," York continued. - We haven't even taken a note yet. I haven’t seen anything like this in so long, and now I’m in the middle of it. You know, we were all just in shock, "Fucking hell." Holy shit.
But after the tour, which the musician later called stunning, he faced another challenge. "While it was a lot of fun in the process, I had a serious downturn, I literally lost my confidence," York admitted. - It took months to recover. It wasn’t until two months later, when I started my solo album again, that I felt, ‘Oh, okay. It's okay now. I'm fine."".
Yorke also revealed that he is currently working with producer Sam Petts-Davies on a new solo album, which he says will be "devilly different" from anything he's done before. But the expected new record Radiohead, it seems, is not yet, about this musician in an interview with Styles said evasively: “We have not worked in the studio all together, so I don’t even know what it would be like now.”.
However, in 2027, the band will continue a series of concerts as part of their reunion: already announced 21 performances in Australia and Japan.
