Penza artist Viktor Shabanov awarded the title of honorary member of the RAH

The Russian Academy of Arts held a ceremony of awarding academic regalia. President of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasily Tsereteli presented the Chairman of the Penza regional branch of the Union of Artists of Russia Viktor Shabanov with the regalia of an honorary member of the Academy.

Viktor Shabanov studied at the K.A. Savitsky Penza Art School from 1971 to 1975 and graduated with honors. He joined the Union of Artists of Russia in 1982, and since 1986 he lives and works in Penza. Since 1978 he has participated in regional, national and international exhibitions. Since 1995, he has headed the Penza regional branch of the Union of Artists of Russia, and is also a member of the commission for awarding gubernatorial awards in the field of culture and art.

The artist has received numerous awards. In 1970 he received the medal “For valiant work”, in 1997 – a diploma of the Secretariat of the Union of Artists of Russia. In 2001, 2013 and 2015, he was awarded Diplomas of the Government of the Penza region and the Legislative Assembly. In 2002, he became a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and received the title “Honored Artist of Russia”. In 2010 he was awarded the gold badge "Spirituality, Traditions, Skill", in 2015 - medals "Patriot of Russia" and "Worthy" RAH, as well as the title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Penza region".

Shabanov’s works are kept in the Penza Regional Art Gallery named after K.A. Savitsky and in private collections in Russia and abroad. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the region congratulated the artist on conferring the honorary title and wished him new creative success.
