On the All-Russian Lyceum Day, in the Moscow Theater Vsevolod Shilovsky will present a production of "Ai da Pushkin!" We know who! The play is dedicated to the biography of Alexander Pushkin and offers a look at the classic not as the author of the school curriculum, but a person with unusual habits, hobbies and stories from life.
The production is based on documentary facts, literary works, photographs and paintings. The visual series complements the story of the poet. Journalist and radio host Denis Lizin presents his script on stage, and fragments of Pushkin’s works will be performed by actors Evgeny Yadretz, Camilla Gaibo, Yuri Kataev and Yuri Bessonov.
The author of the non-fiction production refers to little-known episodes of the poet’s biography and offers to look at his work through modern concepts. Pushkin can be called one of the first authors of the literary series, and his drawings and experiments with form allow us to draw parallels with the visual culture of our days. The production also touches on the history of the creation of famous works and the circumstances of the writer’s personal life.
Viewers will be offered to understand what images of little Pushkin are really made from life, what his nanny was called and what relation the poet had to the appearance of the Humpbacked Horse. Other themes include the origin of the plot of Tales of the Fisherman and the Fish, the story of one of the chapters of Eugene Onegin, and Pushkin’s famous Donjouan list.
The press service of the theater specified that the date of the show is associated with the history of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum: on October 19, 1811, its grand opening took place. It was there that Pushkin studied and formed as a poet. The lyceum day later became a reminder of the lyceum years and the friendship of graduates.
