The special prize of the President of Belarus “For Humanism and Spirituality in Cinema” at the closing ceremony of the XXXII Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” was awarded to the director from Myanmar Aung Myat for the film “That Child”. The award was presented to the winner by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalia Petkevich, BelTA reports.
In response, the director admitted that he experiences incredible emotions.
“I feel unreal. It took me many years to find the courage to make this film and tell the story of a child growing up in my country. I am glad that this painting deserves such a high award. It is particularly important that the story of Myanmar touches viewers so far from my home, here in Europe, said Aung Myat.
The director thanked the President of Belarus for the high award, as well as the organizers of the festival for the opportunity to show the picture in Minsk.
“I’m grateful to my team who helped make the film and I’m glad it really touches hearts,” he added.
