Russian actor of theater and cinema Valery Barinov wished the audience of “White Vezha” to be defeated by the theater

People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, theater and cinema actor Valery Barinov personally congratulated the participants and spectators of the XXX International Theatre Festival “White Vezha” on the opening of the anniversary forum. He came to Brest and addressed the audience from the stage on the embankment of Francisk Skaryna. Earlier on the same day, a creative meeting with the artist was held as part of the festival program.

Valery Barinov became one of the honorary guests of the anniversary "White Vezha". During the last day of the creative meeting, the audience was able to get acquainted with the artist, hear his reflections on the profession, theater and creative path. In the evening, this conversation was continued at the main opening site of the festival.

Valery Barinov began his speech with a quote from the outstanding Soviet director Georgy Tovstonogov from the book The Mirror of the Stage. In it, the performance is compared to a duel in which the actors seek to win the audience, and the audience is ready to surrender to the power of art.

Georgy Alexandrovich Tovstonogov wrote in his book The Mirror of the Stage: Artists and spectators go to the play as a war. Some dream of winning, others dream of being defeated.” I wish you at this festival to be defeated in every performance you see. Let you be amazed by the skill of the actors, let the moment of reincarnation surprise you, let the theater make you closer to each other.

According to the artist, the significantly increased interest of the public in the stage art is not accidental:

- There are a lot of people going to the theater and it’s an amazing phenomenon. When a difficult time comes, people want to be together, feel each other’s shoulder and breath. Theatre is eternal because it is born here and now. The emotions of the viewer and the emotions of the artist meet somewhere at the ramp – and there is a miracle that cannot be repeated exactly. This miracle is the theater, said Valery Barinov.

The People's Artist finished his speech with poetic lines about the acting profession and the nature of theatrical art:

Theatre is a sweet attempt to come back, repeat something, stop for a moment, then wither like a flower, and be reborn with inspiration. Play! God permits!
