On November 6, an unusual cultural meeting was held at the Smolensk Regional Library for Children and Youth. Tenth-graders of school No. 3 met with Indian students studying at Smolensk State Medical University.
Librarians introduced students to the history and traditions of India, telling about Diwali - the main holiday of the country, which is called the "festival of lights". Foreign guests shared their family memories of how this day is celebrated in their homeland, and gave the audience bright musical and dance numbers.
The event turned out to be interactive: the participants together created a colorful pattern of rank from paper petals, and one of the students demonstrated the art of painting henna. The atmosphere was complemented by a bright book exhibition with legends, fairy tales and publications about monuments of the ancient state. Students studied books about India, and Indian students looked with interest at literature about their homeland in Russian.
The library expressed gratitude to the management and students of the medical university for their assistance in the organization and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation in the framework of cultural dialogue.
