On October 25, the next meeting of the Nomto Book Club is scheduled. This time, at the suggestion of a member of the club, the "Life of Pi" will be discussed.
This month we are reading the Booker Prize-winning novel Life of Pi by Canadian writer Iann Martel.
It’s a deep, layered novel about faith, the power of the human spirit, and how the stories we tell ourselves help us get through the darkest of times.
What is the book about?
Sixteen-year-old Indian boy named Pi (Pisin) Patel, the son of a zoo keeper, finds himself in a lifeboat in the middle of an endless ocean after a terrible shipwreck. He lost everything. But he's not alone. His companions are a wounded zebra, hyena, orangutan and... a majestic, deadly Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. How to survive in a confined space with a predator when there is no soul around for thousands of miles?
What makes this novel special:
At the end of the book, the author offers an alternative version of events that completely changes the perception of the whole novel and will make us argue, the announcement reads.
A meeting and discussion of the role of religion and animals in the lifeboat will take place on Sunday 25 October at 15 o'clock in the Amur Sanan National Library. Full-time and online format.
As the organizers promise, the book will open new meanings and details left behind, even for those who have already seen the film adaptation of the novel.
