In Kostroma started preparations for the competition for the best New Year design

Kostroma is preparing for the New Year: festive decoration will appear not only in the city center, but also in residential areas. The details of the preparation for the competition for the best New Year decoration were told by the head of the city Oleg Bolokhovets at a weekly regional meeting.

The competition is held for the second year in a row - it was initiated by the Governor of the Kostroma region Sergey Sitnikov. This time, the organizers expanded the format: winners will be selected in four nominations. Participants will have to transform public spaces and facades of buildings in the central part of the city, as well as social infrastructure facilities. At the suggestion of Oleg Bolokhovets, another nomination was added to the program - for the best New Year decoration of residential neighborhoods. This will make the holiday closer to people: after all, most of the citizens live in sleeping areas.

“The center of the city, to be honest, is not deprived. But we don't have many people here. But our neighborhoods – Davydovsky, Zavolzhsky, the northern part of the city, where the population lives a lot, frankly, not spoiled by the New Year decoration. The idea is not only to decorate the city, but to those areas that will be provided to enterprises and organizations for the placement of New Year’s beauty, they can use as an advertising of their enterprise. Remind colleagues that this is their right, in this case, we do not take money for beauty, Sergey Sitnikov said.

Now there is an active preparation: specialists select places for festive decoration. More than 20 public territories have already been pre-determined, which will become platforms for the New Year’s transformation. You can apply for participation from November 16 to December 1. The competition is open to a variety of participants: companies from the sphere of trade, tourism and services, network organizations, banks, as well as any other commercial structures and institutions can compete in it.

“Organizations and businesses last year confirmed their participation. There are a lot of new ones already. We are currently meeting with them and discussing venues. I think there will be more locations this year and they will be more interesting. According to the terms of the competition, last year’s decorations are not counted. They can be installed, but the subject of the competition will not be, explained Oleg Bolokhovets.

Governor Sergey Sitnikov emphasized that the spaces decorated in the framework of the competition should really work for citizens. He instructed to organize festive programs for Kostroma residents during the winter holidays at these venues so that people could walk, take pictures, participate in events and really feel the atmosphere of the New Year.
