In the Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after opened the exhibition “Supports”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the artist Ibrahimkhalil Supyanov.
Supyanov is a graphic artist, painter, set designer, Honored Artist of Dagestan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic and member of the Union of Artists of Russia. His works are kept in museums in Dagestan and Russia, as well as in private collections in Germany, the USA, France, Spain, India and Israel.
The retrospective covers different stages of the master’s work: early figurative works (the triptych “Chilbik”, the series “Portraits of Dogs”, “Feast”), abstract cycles of the 1990-2020s and premiere art objects from the Chergesab series (2026). It is these wooden sculptures that gave the name to the exhibition: in their vertical and geometry they resemble human figures, family pillars of a mountain dwelling and a shepherd staff as a metaphor for support. The artist explained that each art object symbolizes his departed friends.
Vernissage gathered many connoisseurs of art - the artist's unique visual language was spoken by the acting Minister of Culture of Dagestan Zarem Butayev, the director of the museum Salikhat Gamzatova, academicians Kurbanali Magomedov and Abdulzagir Musayev and others.
The exhibition will run until November 29. Tickets can be bought at the ticket office and on the museum website, Pushkin card payment is available.
