The Museum Association is preparing a new concept of the exhibition

The Governor of the NAO Irina Gekht said that the nature of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is revealed in people – in their fates, occupations, attitude to their land. How to convey this in the museum exposition was one of the topics of a meeting with the director of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Golovnev.
We discussed the approach that Andrei Vladimirovich calls “close-up plans” as in the cinema. At the center of this story is a person. Through his biography, family traditions, everyday work, the visitor learns the history and culture of the region. This is one of the ideas for updating the exposition, the concept of which the Museum Association is preparing together with colleagues from St. Petersburg.
We talked about the Arctic, about the “northern” of Russia. A look at the country from the North helps to better understand the origins of its character.
I remember the thought of Andrei Vladimirovich about the value of authentic things. They allow you to feel a connection with the past, relate it to your life. The governor expressed hope that residents will find close names and plots in the museum halls, and guests will get acquainted with the district through the fate of fellow countrymen.
