In Smolensk showed the performance-immersion “Door”

In Smolensk, a show of the play “Door” performed by actors of the alternative theater “Sub Rose” took place. This is a full-fledged philosophical experiment, transporting the viewer to a frighteningly realistic future.

A world without air

The action takes place in the distant future. Humanity has lost the war with its own greed: water and air supplies have been depleted, and most importantly, people have forgotten how to communicate. In a world where every breath costs lives, the survivors are obsessed with finding a mysterious Door. Legends say that behind it lies salvation, pure peace and hope.

The audience catches the heroes at the most critical moment. Expedition 38 on stage. Of the five brave souls who went in search, only two survived: they are simply called the Second and Fifth. They are exhausted, their voices are hoarse, but a feverish fire burns in their eyes. I think they found what they were looking for. In front of them is the door.

But the play's question is not "will they be able to come in?" but "are they worthy?" The heroes find themselves in a room that is unfamiliar: there sounds “floating music”, strange objects, and most importantly – clean, intoxicating air.

A look from the future

Perhaps the main method of staging was the most unexpected destruction of the fourth wall. In the Door, you are an accomplice. The performance makes the hall freeze and look inside yourself: what is your “door”? What separates you from true happiness? And why does the modern human being, who has everything for well-being – food, technology, security – remain deeply unhappy?

I do not want to reveal all the cards of the show. The end of this story should be lived by everyone. The production of the Sub-Rose theater is definitely worthy of a new audience, ready not only to watch, but to feel and think.
