Vladimir Governor presented the Yukin Prize to Andrei Petrov

Governor Alexander Avdeev signed a decree on awarding a regional award in the field of fine arts named after the People’s Artist of Russia V.Y. Yukin. The winner of the award was the famous Vladimir master Alexander Petrov.

The prestigious award was awarded to the artist for a series of graphic works “Still Life in Space and Time”. Alexander Ivanovich Petrov is an author with a pronounced individual style, working in a wide range of techniques: from classical pen and watercolor to simple pencil. However, the main tool of the master, forming his unique creative face, are colored pencils.

In the professional environment, this material is considered rare, but the works of Petrov clearly prove: the pictorial qualities of a multi-layered pencil are not inferior to traditional painting. His still lifes demonstrate a deep understanding of form and texture, blurring the line between academic drawing and easel graphics. The award recognizes not only the author’s loyalty to rare techniques, but also his contribution to the development of contemporary graphic art in the region.
