Turchin: SCO scale should be translated into measurable economic results

The scale of the SCO should be translated into measurable economic results – into projects that are the basis of the organization’s economic potential. This was stated by Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO states in an expanded format, which takes place in Tajikistan, according to the telegram channel “Government of Belarus”, writes sb.by.

Oleksandr Turchin stressed that financial support for such projects would significantly contribute to the disclosure of the investment potential of the organization.

- In this regard, we once again welcome the ongoing work on the creation of the SCO Development Bank, including in the interests of the SCO partner countries, the Head of Government said. The SCO+ format has every opportunity to become an example of project cooperation. This is because we are not trying to create another bloc around the SCO, but are systematically building a network of economic partnerships.

The Prime Minister stressed that the organization should not become another closed integration structure, the advantages of the SCO are openness, diversity of economies and the desire to align national interests.

The Republic of Belarus takes a responsible approach to ensuring equal and indivisible security in the Eurasian space and the development of multilateral cooperation. In just two weeks, the fourth Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security and the first SCO Forum on Sustainable Development will take place. We look forward to your active participation. Such events best demonstrate the direction of our common efforts to achieve a balance between solving economic and social problems and preserving the environment, said Oleksandr Turchin.

The Head of Government noted that any kind of initiatives should not be transferred to the political plane and blocked by artificial barriers.

The Republic of Belarus is ready to actively work to ensure that the organization remains a space of effective applied interaction and preserves its unique ability to find common ground in various spheres.

According to him, the SCO has already formed a significant potential both in terms of the mechanisms of interaction created within the organization, and in terms of established partnerships.

- Now our common task is to fill the cooperation with concrete content and ensure maximum practical return, moving from declarations to projects, from projects to investments, from investments to production and trade, Oleksandr Turchin summed up.

It is important to work on reducing barriers not only within the SCO, but also in a broader context
