25-year-old blogger ran 20 kilometers and died

25-year-old sports blogger Yu Ji Won died after participating in the half marathon Seoul Race in Seoul. The death of the girl was reported by the South Korean agency OSEN.

The tragedy occurred on October 11. At 20.6 kilometers, the girl suddenly lost consciousness. Before the finish she had to run about 500 meters. Arrived doctors gave the participant emergency assistance and took her to the hospital, but to save the athlete failed.

The organizers of the competition expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased. In a statement, they also promised to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary measures.

Yoo Ji Won studied at the Korean Institute of Advanced Technology and researched semiconductors for artificial intelligence systems. In addition to studying, the girl was engaged in running and talked about training and competitions in her blog.

In April, she won the women’s amateur race for 10 kilometers in the marathon “Kunsan – Samangym”.

About 12,000 people participated in the Seoul Race. The competition program included a half marathon and a distance of 11 kilometers.
