The scammers deceived the Pyatogorchanka, inviting her to the house chat

The police of Pyatigorsk received a statement from a 40-year-old local resident about the fraud committed against her. The damage amounted to about 355 thousand rubles.

As reported in the press service of the regional Department of the interior Ministry, the attackers sent her a link to connect to the “home chat”. The victim had recently moved into a new apartment, so she didn't even question the safety of the offer.

She followed the link and provided the scammers with an access code. Later, the phone received a message with information about the hacking of the personal account on the portal of public services, as well as that a power of attorney was issued on her behalf, and she can be prosecuted for committing mediation in terrorism.

The next step of the fraudsters was a call from an employee of Roskomnadzor. The interlocutor said that it is urgent to “declar” savings. And, following his instructions, the applicant transferred the money to the specified details.
