A gang of merchants of bank accounts for fraudsters was covered by the police

In the Thai city of Masot, police have detained three men suspected of trading bank accounts for fraudulent gangs operating near the border with Myanmar. During the search, they found 44 mobile phones, including 40 devices with banking applications. This was reported by Khaosod English with reference to the police unit for combating crimes on the Internet.

The operation was carried out on the basis of permission of the Provincial Court of Masota. The reason was information about the premises, where allegedly bought and resold bank accounts for illegal money transactions.

According to the investigation, the detainees found people who agreed to draw up accounts in their name for a fee. For each such account was paid from 8000 to 10 000 baht (from 19.5 to 24.4 thousand rubles).

Access to the accounts was then resold to fraudulent centers and organizers of illegal online gambling. The profit of the intermediaries ranged from 2,000 to 3,000 baht from each account. Presumably, the criminal scheme operated for more than a year.

In addition to phones with banking applications, the police seized four devices for negotiations with customers, seven notebooks and 20 tablets of a prohibited substance.

All three were accused of organizing the illegal trafficking of bank accounts intended for criminal activity. One of the detainees was further charged with drug possession.

According to police, during interrogations, the men admitted that they were looking for people to process bills, which were subsequently passed on to others.
