The case of corruption in the construction of a sports facility in Sharya sent to the court

In the Kostroma region, a line was drawn in a high-profile corruption case related to the construction of a sports facility in Sharya. The chief engineer of the customer (state institution) and the director of the contractor firm will go to the dock.

Investigators found that for six months (from June 2025 to March 2026), the engineer “covered” the builders. In order to turn a blind eye to violations, increase advances and extend the terms of the contract, he received from merchants more than 200 thousand rubles in cash.

In parallel, the director of the contractor decided to “heat” the budget by 11.4 million rubles. In December 2025, she forged documents, inflating the cost of metal structures and their installation. However, to bring the scam to the end failed – the customer in time noticed the “mistakes” in the estimate and raised the alarm.

The engineer faces a term for receiving a bribe on a large scale (Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the director - for giving a bribe (Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and an attempt to commit fraud on an especially large scale (Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was investigated with the participation of Kostroma UEBiPK and has now been transferred to court.
