Lebanon resident Joseph Adchiti sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security colony for attempting to smuggle 89 kilograms of drugs into St. Petersburg

A resident of Lebanon, Joseph Adchiti, was sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security colony for attempting to smuggle 89 kilograms of drugs into St. Petersburg. This is reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
In 2015, the Lebanese, along with his accomplices, organized the supply of drugs from Ecuador to Russia. The banned substance was hidden in caches inside a banana container and was supposed to be transited through St. Petersburg to Turkey.
The criminal activity of the group was suppressed in the same year: the infiltrated police seized 89 kilograms of the drug in the Seaport of St. Petersburg.
The Lebanese managed to escape abroad. His accomplices were detained and convicted in 2018.
Adchiti was on the international wanted list for ten years until he was detained in Peru and extradited to Russia in June 2025.
