Australian airline Qantas has cancelled a flight from Rome to Perth after finding bugs on board. Passengers on a nearly 17-hour flight have complained of insect bites, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
According to travelers, bedbugs crawled on clothes, blankets and personal belongings. Some even found insects in their shoes. The problem was reported to the crew during the previous section of the route from Sydney to Perth.
The airline apologised and sent a Boeing 787 Dreamliner for a deep cleanup. Passengers were provided with hotels and rebooked tickets for alternative flights within 48 hours.
The victims were given antihistamines, but their supply ran out. Experts remind that bedbugs can get home through luggage and clothes, so after trips it is worth carefully inspecting things.
