Minchanka took part in a beauty contest and gave fraudsters about 600 BYN

A resident of Minsk believed in the free tour and transferred about 600 BYN to scammers. The reason was a gift certificate received for participation in a beauty contest, the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

According to the police, the 45-year-old Minsk woman found information in the messenger about holding a commercial event in the format of a beauty contest and took part in it. As a result, all women were awarded gift certificates for a tourist trip from a foreign company.

After a while, a resident of the capital decided to use the gift. To activate, it was necessary to scan the QR code, register and make a payment. Trusting the instructions, the victim transferred about 600 BYN to a foreign account. After that, representatives of the organization ceased to communicate, and the promised trip she never received.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact.

The police reminds that the prize or bonus does not involve payments from the recipient. The requirement to pay for “activation” is a sign of a fraudulent scheme. Before entering personal or payment data and scanning the QR code, you need to check the information about the organization on the official website.
