Overtaking at 133 km/h. In Vitebsk completed the investigation of the accident in which the child died

The Investigative Department of the UCK in the Vitebsk region established the circumstances of a road accident in the Vitebsk region, as a result of which a child died. This was reported in the press service of the UK, writes sb.by.

According to the investigation, on the afternoon of June 24, 2025, an 18-year-old driver, driving a Nissan car, was moving along the 14th kilometer of the R-115 Vitebsk-Gorodok highway through the territory of the Vitebsk district. When overtaking passing vehicles, he was not convinced that the oncoming lane was free.

Due to insufficient driving experience and significant speeding, the young man drove into the oncoming lane, creating a threat to road safety and forcing the oncoming Kia to change the trajectory. Trying to avoid the impact, the driver of the Korean foreign car began to urgently move to the right side of the road in the course of his movement, where the collision of vehicles occurred, the IC said.

As a result of the accident, three passengers of the Kia car were injured: a 48-year-old woman and an 11-year-old brother and sister. The driver, the mother of the minors, was not injured. Already in the hospital, the girl died from her injuries.

According to the results of the forensic medical examination, the minor suffered serious bodily injuries, the passenger suffered less serious bodily injuries.

On the road section where the accident occurred, a speed limit of 70 km / h was set. However, the autotechnical examination recorded that the accused was moving at a speed of 133 km / h. It was also found that the driver of the Kia did not have the technical ability to prevent a collision and acted in an emergency situation created by the driver of Nissan.

“The study of the identity of the defendant showed that he does not work anywhere, despite his short driving experience, has already been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility by the traffic police, including for exceeding the speed limit,” the Investigative Committee added. The investigators charged him under part 2 of article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, resulting in negligence death of a person, causing grievous bodily harm and less serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus

The investigation of the criminal case is completed, the materials were transferred to the prosecutor for referral to the court.
