A United Airlines plane was preparing for an emergency landing in Chicago after a 69-year-old passenger was unable to get out of the toilet because of a broken door. The incident occurred on October 13 during a flight from Seattle to Newark. According to the portal “Airlive”, the crew managed to free the woman before the completion of the emergency maneuver.
About 2.5 hours after departure, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 was over Minnesota when flight attendants found the passenger unable to get out of the toilet. The door mechanism is out of order.
Attempts to open the door lasted about 15 minutes, but were unsuccessful. Then the commander of the aircraft contacted controllers and reported the incident, and then began to prepare for an emergency landing in Chicago.
However, during the descent, flight attendants still managed to open the door and let the woman out. Making sure that the passenger is safe and not injured, the crew refused an emergency landing.
After that, the plane again gained altitude, continuing the flight to Newark. After arriving, the woman was examined by doctors. Her condition was assessed as stable.
