In the Mezen district, a postal employee stopped a pensioner from transferring 200 thousand rubles to scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Arkhangelsk region.
The woman called the police station: the visitor was very worried and wanted to transfer a large amount to a foreign account. Arrived police found out that the pensioner first called allegedly an employee of the administration and promised additional payment to pension, luring passport data. Then a pseudo-employee of the military prosecutor's office called and said that the data was seized by the attackers and now they will transfer money to terrorists on behalf of the man. To avoid a search, the pensioner was persuaded to “declar” the cash transfer.
The man collected 200 thousand rubles and went to the post office, where, according to the instructions of the fraudsters, he said that he was sending money to his sister for a wedding. The postal worker suspected something was wrong and called the police.
A criminal case has been opened. Employees of banks, law enforcement agencies and government agencies do not communicate through messengers, and the concept of a “safe account” does not exist.
