In the evening of October 17, on the 12th kilometer of the Udomlya-Kotlovan-Lipny highway, the DPS crew tried to stop a Volkswagen Transporter car moving towards Udomli in the Tver region. The driver did not respond to the demand to stop and, seeing flashing beacons, did not slow down, but, on the contrary, sharply accelerated and began to maneuver dangerously, evading pursuit.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Tver region, the chase lasted several kilometers: the driver repeatedly went to the oncoming lane in dangerous areas, threatening other traffic participants. Police have repeatedly warned about the possible use of service weapons; after the warning shot did not work, the inspector fired 12 aimed shots at the right front and rear wheels of the van. After puncturing the tires, the car lost control and stopped near the village of Kurovo.
The driver was a 16-year-old who did not have a driving license, and the vehicle belongs to his father. On the fact of the incident, administrative protocols were drawn up: in respect of a minor - according to Part 1 of Article 12.7 (control without the right), Part 2 of Article 12.37 (failure to fulfill the requirements for stopping / leaving the place of an accident) and Part 2 of Article 12.25 (failure to fulfill the requirement to provide a stop). Regarding the father, a protocol was drawn up under Part 3 of Article 12.7 (transfer of control to a person who knows not to have the right). The materials were sent to the juvenile affairs unit to resolve the issue of attracting legal representatives under Article 5.35 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
Detained Volkswagen Transporter placed in a special parking lot.
