Buying a smartphone turned into a criminal case for a woman

36-year-old resident of Tver faced remote fraud, trying to buy a smartphone through a Telegram channel. She was interested in the announcement about the sale of phones at an attractive price.

The woman wrote to the group, informing about the desire to buy a popular gadget. Having discussed with an unknown interlocutor the price of the device and the terms of delivery, she transferred the agreed amount to the electronic wallet of an outsider, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Tver region reports. The seller promised to send the order the next day through the express delivery service, but then said that it did not have time and assured that the phone would be sent out the next morning.

But a day later, the shipment never took place. She demanded a refund, and the fake seller is in no hurry to return them. Suspecting fraud, the woman went to the police.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under the article “Fraud”. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carry out a set of operational measures aimed at identifying persons involved in illegal activities.
