During the day, starting from October 15, in different regions of the world recorded five cases of alarm by aircraft.
Incidents affected a variety of aircraft: among them – passenger liner Volotea (Toulouse – Cane route), small-engine Grob G115E (flight between Britain and the village of Mineskip) and military reconnaissance aircraft Boeing Poseidon MRA1 Air Force, which gave a signal when approaching Scotland.
By 20:10, two more cases of activation of the emergency code Squawk 7700 were recorded. A United Airlines plane flying from Heathrow to New York was forced to abort the flight and return to London airport. A similar decision was made by the crew of the Bombardier Challenger 604, registered in San Marino: after the signal was given, the board also returned to the departure airport.
Details of the reasons for the signals have not yet been disclosed.
