Shooting of two people in a cafe revealed by prints on a coffee cup
Fingerprints on a cup of coffee found the killer who shot the director of the cafe and his relative 23 years ago in the South of Moscow

As it became known to "MK", we are talking about the shooting in the cafe "Velostok" on Velozavodskaya street in the late evening of May 27, 2003. The shooter opened fire on the owner of the establishment, 31-year-old Shahin Alyev, and his 44-year-old uncle Ramiz Jafarov, who worked in the same cafe as a manager. Both men were hospitalized in extremely serious condition, they could not be saved. The killer fled immediately after the shooting. The investigation was complicated by the fact that there were no people who directly saw the crime. However, many years later, fingerprints from a cup of coffee helped investigators of the capital's GSU SK to identify the suspect. He was a native of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmir Aghayev.
During the investigation, the waitress of the cafe told about the events of that evening. During the day, there were almost no visitors in the cafe, and people began to gather from about 22.00. Most of the regulars sat in the hall, but around 23:00 a young man with an oriental face came and ordered a cup of coffee. The owner of the cafe Shahin Alyev at this time stood at the bar counter, and then went to his office, where Jafarov was already. One of the exits from the cafe was opposite the director's office, and it was in that direction that a stranger headed after Alyev left. Soon the waitress heard a loud roar from the office. She later realised it was shots and remembered they sounded three times. Anna Slice ran to the office of the leadership. There was no one in the hallway and the door was open. Shahin Alyev was lying on the floor, covered in blood, and asked for help. His uncle sat at the table and the man's head lay on the countertop in a pool of blood. Anna called an ambulance and told about the incident security.
Comparing the time of the stranger’s departure from the cafe and the sounds of shots, she concluded that it was the latter who shot Alyev and Jafarov, since there was no one else at the entrance leading to the director’s office at that time. The witness also identified the defendant from the photo as a person with an oriental face who had ordered a cup of coffee that day. The case is now being considered in court.
