In Koreiz, rescuers around the clock fortify the banks of rivers and erect dams, and in Alupka, the Khara-Bair river overflowed the banks near the Sevastopol highway and flooded the streets. This was reported in the press service of the GU EMERCOM in the Crimea.
EMERCOM of Russia continues to eliminate the consequences of bad weather in the Crimea. The most difficult situation remains in Koreiz and Alupka. In Koreiz in the morning remain flooded 10 private households and one apartment building.
Rescuers work around the clock: strengthen coastlines, clear riverbeds from stones and large debris. To protect critical facilities, temporary dams are built from sandbags. Heavy mechanized equipment is involved.
In Alupka, the Khara-Bair river overflowed its banks near the Sevastopol highway. Some of the streets are flooded, the water enters the houses and the surrounding areas. For residents whose homes were affected by the flood, deployed a temporary accommodation.
In order to divert the main stream and protect residential areas, the Emergencies Ministry forces, together with representatives of the local administration, urgently build a temporary dam. Rescuers are fortifying the coastline with sandbags and clearing showers to speed up runoff.
Work in Alupka is carried out on five sites. Continuous monitoring of the situation has been organized, some equipment and personnel are transferred to the most difficult areas for the prompt construction of dams. The group is growing.
As of October 20, 509 mm of precipitation fell in the Yalta district – a historical maximum for this territory. The most critical situation from the very beginning was in Koreiz: there the river Uzen-Ceshme came out of the banks, flooding residential buildings.
Flooding in Koreiz was recognized as a municipal emergency; an interdepartmental operational headquarters operates under the administration of the village.
