Magnitude 5 earthquake

An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred in China’s Qinghai province in northwestern China, just days after devastating aftershocks in the neighboring Tibet Autonomous Region, according to the China Seismological Center (CENC).
The focus of the elements lay at a depth of ten kilometers, causing panic among residents of mountain villages and damage to individual buildings of rural infrastructure. Provincial authorities quickly mobilized rescue teams, road services and medical teams to examine the affected areas for possible landslides.
Increased seismic activity on the Tibetan plateau is under constant control of the rescue services of China due to the risk of repeated aftershocks.
