According to seismic observations and satellites, an ash ejection occurred on the volcano. Volcanologists suggest that the activity is associated with the growth of a new dome.
Shiveluch belongs to the active volcanoes of Kamchatka. Its age is estimated at 60-70,000 years. The volcanic complex includes Old Shiveluch, an ancient caldera and an active Young Shiveluch.
The volcano is located about 50 kilometers from the village of Keys of the Ust-Kamchatka district and 450 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
