On Wednesday, October 14, Volgograd faced another emergency: a gas leak occurred in the Dzerzhinsky district of the city. The source was a damaged gas pipeline on Novodvinskaya Street, which runs right in the construction area of a new residential complex. The first disturbing information was posted on social networks by witnesses.
Witnesses described the situation as serious: the gas could have spread, so students had to evacuate two colleges located near the scene of the accident.
The preliminary version is as follows: the pipe was hit by workers during construction activities. The press service of “Concessions of water supply” specified that the work at the facility at the time of emergency was conducted by a contractor.
In the meantime, health reported the victims. Three patients were taken to Volgograd hospital No. 25 and placed in the toxicology department.
