Yanina Kopaygorodskaya, the wife of the former mayor of Sochi Alexei Kopaygorodsky, is in the hospital at the detention center. On October 14, RIA Novosti reported her lawyer Elizaveta Metkina.

According to the defender, after the announcement of the sentence, Yanina Kopaygorodskaya felt ill and reported a possible stroke. At the same time, medical documents confirming this diagnosis were not available at the time of the comment. The lawyer said that he was investigating the condition of his client.

On October 5, a court in Moscow sentenced Alexei Kopaygorodsky to 15 years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 500 million rubles. His wife was sentenced to nine years in prison and a similar fine.

In addition, the court decided to recover from the spouses in favor of the state 440 million rubles in compensation for damages. According to the investigation and the case materials, they were found guilty of episodes related to bribery, pressure on witnesses, embezzlement and money laundering.
