Phone show for 1.1 million: in Donetsk detained courier scammers
In Donetsk police stopped a large fraudulent scheme

In Donetsk police stopped a large fraudulent scheme. The victim of the scammers was an 80-year-old resident of the city, and an accomplice was a 47-year-old local resident who had not previously worked anywhere.
“Criminal investigation officers of the police department for the maintenance of the Kalinin district of the capital of the Republic identified and detained an unemployed local resident born in 1978, involved in a major fraud,” the police said.
The script was classic for such cases. The pensioner called through the messenger. Unknown people introduced themselves as fighters against money laundering and persuaded the woman to transfer savings to a trusted person – allegedly for “declaration”.
“Under the pretext of preventing money laundering, she was persuaded to transfer the funds to a trusted person for “declaration,” the ministry said.
Under psychological pressure, the pensioner twice handed over money and a bank card to a woman who came to her. For the first time, the courier took 400 thousand rubles and a card with which she cashed another 298 thousand. In the second, under the pretext of paying a “tax”, she received another 411,000.
“The total material damage amounted to 1,109,000 rubles. The courier transferred all the funds received to the accomplices, the police said.
The identity of the accomplice was established during operational-search activities. She was arrested. A criminal case was initiated against the defendant under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - fraud on an especially large scale. The sanction provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
