Three children and an adult killed in school shooting

In the US city of Bend, Oregon, three children and one adult were killed in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School. The alleged attacker also died from a gunshot wound. This was reported by CBS, citing sources in law enforcement.

According to Reuters, the first reports of the shooting came to police around 13:00 local time on October 15. At first, the unknown opened fire on the car near the school, after which the emergency services began to receive calls from the building of the educational institution.

Police arrived at the scene a few minutes later. They found the alleged shooter with a gunshot wound that turned out to be fatal. Bend police spokeswoman Sheila Miller said the man could have been shot dead by an eyewitness. However, police have not yet established who exactly fired the fatal shot.

According to ABC News, there are minors among the victims. At least two people were taken to hospital. Their status is not reported.

After the shooting began, the school announced a lockdown. Similar security measures have been put in place at several nearby schools. To meet the children with their parents, the police organized a special point in the local church.
