In the US state of Illinois, 31-year-old former teacher Zoe Duncan-Savige was convicted of sexual acts against a minor student. The court gave the woman 30 months of probation and 180 days of imprisonment, which will be canceled if she meets all the requirements. This is reported by the WCIA channel.
The crime occurred in April 2023 in Macon County. According to prosecutors, the teacher communicated with the 16-year-old through Snapchat. In correspondence, the woman touched on intimate topics, asked to send photos and invited the young man to his home. There was later sexual contact between them. Duncan-Savige previously taught with the victim in seventh and eighth grades.
In June 2023, she retired from the Maroa Forsyth school district. The investigation lasted more than a year, and in June 2024 the former teacher was arrested. In August 2026, she pleaded guilty to an aggravated sexual assault charge against a minor.
The verdict was announced on October 15. In addition to probation, the court ordered the convict to comply with the prohibition on contact with the victim and to remain in the register of persons who committed sexual crimes for life. If Duncan-Savige meets all the conditions of probation, she will not have to serve the 180-day sentence.
