The authorities of the Khabarovsk Territory canceled the high alert regime introduced due to the rise of water in the rivers. By early October, the flooded territories were freed from water, and the level of the Amur continues to decline, the regional government said.
The regime has been operating since August 11 amid summer and autumn rains and rising water in the Amur and its tributaries. The most difficult situation was in the area named after Lazo, Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where flooding affected roads, cottages and homesteads.
As of the morning of October 20, the water level at Khabarovsk was 76 cm, at Komsomolsk-on-Amur - 126 cm. The 450 cm mark is considered unfavorable for both cities.
After the cancellation of the regime, the emergency services will return to daily routine, but will continue to monitor the hydrological situation. The immediate threat of flooding of settlements has passed, there are no prerequisites for the re-imposition of restrictions yet. Rescuers recommend caution near water bodies.
