In Buryatia, an 84-year-old woman died in a fire due to smoking, her son was hospitalized

In the Jidinsky district of Buryatia, an 84-year-old housewife died in a fire - the tragedy played out late in the evening of October 14 in the village of Nizhny Torei. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was negligence when smoking. By the time the first units arrived at the site - the forces and means of the 5th Jidinsky detachment of the SPS RB and the DPC of the JV Nizhnetoreyskoye - the log house was completely engulfed in fire, the slate roof collapsed, the Republican Agency for GO and Emergency Situations told.

Even before the arrival of firefighters, an eyewitness managed to bring the 64-year-old son of the hostess out of the burning building. A man with carbon monoxide poisoning was urgently hospitalized in the Peter and Paul CRB - now doctors assess his condition and provide the necessary assistance.

The area of the housing destroyed by the fire was 42 square meters - almost nothing remains of the house.

Rescuers and firefighters emphasize that the rate of spread of flames in wooden buildings is especially high, and at night the risk to life increases many times due to the fact that people sleep and late notice smoke. In connection with the incident, the Republican Agency of GO and Emergency Situations again reminds of the basic rules of fire safety: do not smoke in bed, especially when tired or intoxicated, do not throw cigarette butts next to combustible materials and be sure to take care of the protection of elderly relatives - it is extremely desirable to install autonomous smoke fire detectors in their homes that are able to give an alarm in time.
