The former head of the Department of Pharmacy and Public Procurement of the Ministry of Health of Dagestan was involved in a criminal case, the Investigative Committee of Russia reports

The former head of the Department of Pharmacy and Public Procurement of the Ministry of Health of Dagestan turned out to be involved in a criminal case, the Investigative Committee of Russia reports. He is suspected of exceeding official powers.
According to the investigation, in March, the official signed a contract with a commercial structure for the purchase of therapeutic nutrition, the amount of which exceeded 143 million rubles, although there were no significant grounds for such a purchase. As a result, budget funds went to buy food, while residents of the republic, suffering from chronic diseases, were left without the necessary medicines. This forced the authorities to allocate additional money from the budget to fill the shortage of drugs.
As specified by the IC, the case was initiated under the article on the abuse of official powers on the basis of materials transferred by the FSB in Dagestan. In addition, the investigation believes that the suspect without proper reason canceled already received applications for the purchase of vital medicines, which also did not allow timely provision of patients with the necessary drugs.
Earlier it was reported that in Dagestan 11 settlements were left without gas due to rockfall.
