In Grodno, a 21-year-old local resident was detained, who, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, snatched wires from an electric shield in the entrance of a multi-storey building. His actions led to a fire and damage of almost 20 thousand rubles, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee reported.
As established by operatives, in late August, the man wandered aimlessly near the house on Yanka Kupala Avenue. Then he went into the entrance, opened the electric shield and pulled the wires out of it.
The shield caught fire, the fire quickly spread and damaged cable lines. From the fire, the walls and ceiling on the stairs were buried, property of organizations whose offices are located in the building was damaged. Residents and employees were not injured.
Material damage amounted to almost 20 thousand rubles. A criminal case was opened against the detainee for hooliganism. The young man could not explain his act, citing strong alcoholic intoxication.
